FINDING KALAM QUIZ COMPETITION
On 30th July,2016 Master Sudipto Ghosh of Class-XI Science participated in Fiding Kalam Quiz Competition organized by Extra Marks in association with News Nation-a leading Natioanl level private News Channel at JBM Global School, Greater Noida, UP under the guidance of Mr. Somvir Choudhary, TGT(Maths). He qualified upto 3rd round and won a prize of Rs.5,000/- in this event.

CBSE AVISHKAR SCIENCE QUIZ
On 14th July,2016 students of classes VI to VIII participated in the CBSE Avishkar Science Quiz in the School on the topic ‘Atmosphere’ under the guidance of Ms. Richa Dey, Science Teacher. Master Tarun Saha of class-VII D and Master Arjunand of class-VIII B won this quiz. On 21st July,2016, 5 teams Primary Wing comprising 10 students participated in the CBSE Avishkar Science Quiz in the School on the topic ‘Atmosphere’ under the able guidance of Mrs. Rashmee Srivastava, Incharge-Primary Wing with Slides and LCD. The winning team took the next level ‘on-line quiz’ on 26th July,2016.

STATE GAMES OF BASKET BALL
On 20th and 21st July,2016, Special Olympic Bharat-Delhi organized the State Games of Basket Ball at Air Force Station, Race Course, New Delhi. Four boys and three girls from the SN Wing participated. The Boys Team got the First Prize.

STATE GAMES OF BOCCE
On 20th and 21st July,2016, Special Olympic Bharat-Delhi organized the State Games of Bocce at Air Force Station, Race Course, New Delhi. Fifteen Institutes from different parts of India participated in this event. Our four special need students participated and got First Prize.

TAEKWONDO CHAMPIONSHIP
On 16th & 17th July, 2016, the 4th South East District Taekwondo Championship 2016 was organized jointly by South East District Taekwondo Association, Delhi Taekwondo Association and Taekwondo Federation of India at Shiv Mandir Dharamshala, Chirag Delhi. Seventeen students of our School participated under the able guidance of Mohd Nazir Saifi, Taekwondo Coach. It is heartening to mention that our students bagged 8 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals.

BADMINTON STATE COMPETITION
On 10th May,2016 Special Olympic Bharat organized the Badminton State Competition at Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute, Subroto Park, New Delhi. Eight students from Special Wing and one from General Wing participated in this event. Our students bagged five gold and two bronze medals in different categories

CASH INCENTIVE – RAJIV GANDHI STATE AWARDS

BALSHREE CAMP BY NATIONAL BAL BHAWAN
On 3rd and 4th May,2016, National Bal Bhawan organized the Bal Shree Camp in its premises. Mrs. Manu Bhardwaj and Ms. Priya Rathore, Special Educators of our School were invited as Interpretors for Hearing Imparied Children participating in this camp. Their efforts were highly appreciated.

OPEN INDIA TAEKWONDO CHAMPIONSHIP-2016
On 11th and 12th May,2016, the Naraina Sports & Cultural Society and Taekwondo Federation of India organized the Open India Taekwondo Championship-2016. Our ten students participated in different categories under the able guidance of Mr. Mohd Saifi, Taekwondo Coach. The School is proud to mention that our students bagged 2 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals in different categories.

TAEKWONDO CHAMPIONSHIP
On 1st May,2016, the Tenth Leo Cup Taekwondo Championship-2016 was organised jointly by North District Takewondo Association, Delhi Taekwondo Association and Taekwondo Federation of India at Shiv Mandir Taekwondo Hall, Narayna, New Delhi. Our thirty eight students (37 from GW and 1 from HI Wing) participated in this event under the able guidance of Mr. Mohd Nazir Saifi, Taekwondo Coach. It is indeed a matter of great pride that 36 students brought laurels to the school and won 16 Gold, 9 Silver and 11 Bronze Medals.

DANCE COMPETITION BY AIFD
On 30th April,2016, our nine hearing impaired students presented a Dance : Ganesh Vandana at NDMC Convention Hall, CP. The programme was organized by All India Foundation of Deaf to celebrate the 25th Silver Jubilee Pranay Milan Sammelan. Our students got participation certificate. Students were accompanied by Mrs. Lovely Bhandari, Dance Teacher and Ms. Neha Ahuja, Special Educator.

INTER SCHOOL COMPETITIONS
On 29th April,2016 our fourteen students participated in Munshi Memorial Inter School Recitation Competition-2016 and eight students (including two students from Special Wing) participated in Lilavati Munshi Memorial On the Spot Painting Competition organized by Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan. Master Daksh of class – bagged the Second Prize in the Paitning Competition-Sub Junior Category and Km. Varsha, a hearing impaired student of class – VIII HI (Special Wing) won the Second Prize in the Painting Competition-Senior Category for Differently Abled.

SANSKRIT COMPETITION
On 19th April,2016, Amity Institute of Education, Saket organized a Sanskrit Competition based on the them “भावनाओं की रंग, नवरस के संग, जीवन में उतारे संस्कृत संग” . Our six students from classes VI to VIII participated in the ‘Shalokas Recitation’ under the guidance of Mr. Sarvesh Mohan Kandwal, Sanskrit Teacher.

CARROM COMPETITION
On 13th April,2016, Very Special Arts India organized the 7th Inter School Carrom Competition in its premises. Our four hearing impaired students participated in Junior and Senior Categories in this event. Our students bagged first prize in both the groups.

UN-LEARN WORKSHOP
On 9th and 10th April,2016, UNESCO in association with Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace & Sustainable Development, New Delhi organized a two days UN-LEARN WORKSHOP at IIT-Delhi. The resource persons were Ms Anjali Bawan (Founder-Action Dyslexia) and Ms. Bina Nangia (noted Author-Dyslexia Decoded) addressed all the participants on the severity, identifying and acuteness of Dyslexia, Barriers to Effective Communication and Myths Related to Difference Learning. Ms Jodi Clements, President-Australia Dyslexia Association and Ms Lalitha Ramanujam other two key resource persons described the various tricks and tips to make kids more comfortable with Maths. and Dyragraphia. The workshop ended with interactive session by Pandies Theatre Group. It was a very enriching and informative experience for our four teachers viz. Mrs. Neelam Shourie-TGT, Mrs. Poonam Tagra-PRT, Mrs. Sushma Richard-Special Educator (for SN) and Ms. Priya Rathore-Special Educator (for HI) who attended the same.

ORIENTATION DAY
On 2nd April,2016, the Orientation Day for the parents of newly admitted students of class- Play Group was organized at 1000 hrs in the Savitri Devi Auditorium. The programme commenced with a beautiful bhajan. Parents were updated about the rules and regulations by Mrs. Reena Khurana, I/c-Pre Primary. Glimpses of Pre Primary Wing were showcased through a power point presentation. Km. Geetanji, a class PREP student shared her experiences of the year in the school followed by a beautiful dance by the tiny-tots. Mrs. Vandana Baberwal-Principal, Second Shift, Mrs. Geeta Mallick-Co Ordinator(SW), Shri A.K.Tripathi-Principal and Gp.Capt. S.C. Bahri (Reted) graced the occasion and they all addressed the parents highlighting the ethos of the Schoool. Mrs. Reena Khurana, Incharge, Pre Primary presented the Vote of Thanks to all.The programme concluded with the National Anthem.

SAI SANDHYA
The Special Wing of Balvantray Mehta Vidya Bhawan Anguridevi Shersingh Memorial Academy organized the Annual Sai Sandhya on Thursday, the 30 March,2016 at Sai Sharnam in the School premises. Our Chairman Admiral R.H. Tahiliani, Former Chief of the Naval Staff & Former Governor of Sikkim and Mrs. Meera Tahiliani graced the occasion. Shri Vasu M.-CAO, SOPS(Delhi), Mr.R.K. Wadhera, Manager-Balvantray Mehta Vidya Bhawan Sr Sec School, Lajpat Bahwan, Mrs. Sunita Bhatia, Headmistress – Primary Wing, Balvantray Mehta Vidya Bhawan Sr Sec School, Lajpat Bahwan and Mrs. L.Kharbanda, Former Principal, Balvantray Mehta Vidya Bhawan Sr Sec School, Lajpat Bahwan were also graced present. The auspicious programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp. The teaching and non-teaching staff of the school from all wings presented a beautiful cultural programme including Mantras, Bhajans, Qwalis etc and concluded with Sai Arti by Smt. Meera Tahiliani, wife of Chairman of the School. There was a large gathering of devotees to seek the blessings of Sai Baba. The Sai Sandhya concluded with ‘Sai Arti’ in a beautiful resonance followed by distribution of Prasad and Preeti Bhoj for all present on this occasion in the Sai Multipurpose Hall.

UNIFIED GAMES TRAINING PROGRAMME
On 24th and 26th February,2016 our School in collaboration with Special Olympic Bharat organized the Badminton & Volleyball Unified Games Training Programme. Twenty teachers/special educators and 60 students (from Special and General Schools) participated in this Training Programme. Air Marshal Garkal (Retd) and Air Marshal Malik (Reted) addressed all the trainees about these games.

43rd DELHI GAMES OF THE DEAF
On 27th February,2016, Delhi Assoication of the Deaf organized the 43rd Delhi Games of the Deaf at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi. Our 30 hearing impaired students participated in different events and age groups. Our School won 14 Gold Medals, 8 Silver Medals, 8 Bronze Medals and the Best Female Trophy alongwith Over All Team Championship in these games.

BOCCE STATE LEVEL GAMES-2016
On 21st and 22nd February,2016 the Special Olympic Bhart organized the Bocce State Level Games at Thyagraj Stadium. Our twelve students from Special Wing participated as three teams and all the three teams i.e. Boys, Girls and Integrated Team Categories bagged the First Position in this game.

FAREWELL PARTY
The class-XI students organized a Farewell Party for outgoing class-XII students on 20th February 2016 in the Savitri Devi Auditorium. A brief cultural programme was presented by the students of class-XI. Smt. Vandana Baberwa, Offg Principal-2nd Shift, Smt. Geeta Mallick, Co-Ordinator(SW), Shri A.K. Tripathi-Principal and Gp.Capt. S.C. Bahri, Director of the School addressed the students and extended their good wishes for their forthcoming examination.

NATIONAL WINTER SPORTS-2016
From 1st to 10th February,2016, Special Olympics Bharat organized the National Winter Sports Floorball-2016. Master Aman of VIII-SN who represented the Delhi Zone participated in it and was selected for the National Team. He won the Bronze Medal and Certificate in this sports event.

INTER SCHOOL INTEGRATED MEET
On 12th February,2016, Amar Jyoti Charitable Tust in collaboration with Sentiss Foundation organized an Inter School Integrated Sports Meet at Thygraj Stadium, New Delhi. An Integrated Team of ten students (5 from SW and 5 from GW) participated in different events. We won 10 Gold and 4 Bronze Medals in this meet.

PAINTING CONTEST-2016
On 12th February,2016, Very Special Arts India organized a Painting Contest in its premises. Our four hearing impaired students participated in two events – Toran Painting and Matka Painting and won the first prizes in both the categories.

FOUNDER’S DAY
To commemorate the 151st Birth Anniversary of Sher-e-Punjab Lala Lajpat Rai ,Servants of the People Society celebrated the 28th Founder’s Day of Balvantray Mehta Vidya Bhawan Anguridevi Shersingh Memorial Academy on 28th January,2016 (Thursday) in the Savitri Devi Auditorium of the school. Shri Manish Sisodia, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, Govt. of NCT of Delhi was the Chief Guest for the occasion. The ceremony commenced with fanfare ,lighting of the lamp and floral tributes to the founder of Servants of the People Society – Lala Lajpat Rai. Shri Arun K. Jain,Chairman of the School Managing Committee welcomed the Chief Guest and all the distinguished guests. Shri Rajkumar-Chairman, SOPS(Delhi), Shri Vasu M-CAO, SOPS(Delhi), Family Members of Lala Lajpat Rai, Members of the School Managing Committee, Senior Members of Servants of the People Society, Members of different NGOs graced the occasion. The Integrated Cultural Programme commenced with an amalgam of song, music and dance items. The students showcased their creative skills with innovative performances. The highlights of the show were the value based plays. The medley presentation of children from both the wings focused on the mental, physical and spiritual upliftment. Shri A.K.Tripathi, Principal presented the School’s Annual Report highlighting the achievements of the School with a focus on the admission of students in Professional Colleges. The report was appreciated by one and all. Shri Manish Sisodia gave away the prizes to meritorious students for their excellent performance in various activities. He also released the School souvenir “Prayas” printed in the School press with the help of disabled children. He also released a souvenir published by the Servants of the People Society on the occasion of the culmination of year long nation-wide celebrations of 150th Birth Anniversary of Lala Lajpat Rai. On this occasion, Master Sagar Bhatt, former Special Need student of our School was given the prestigious “Jasbhagti Special Achievement Award” for the year 2015-2016 along with a cash prize of Rs.5,000/- for his outstanding achievement despite his disability. Kumari Himani Pant, a student of class- XII was given the “Eleventh Aditya Sharma Memorial Best All Rounder Award”. Kumari Neema Panwar, a special need girl was given the “Arun Mallick Memorial Jewel of VTC Award“, Kumari Debashree Misra of XII-SN, Master Rahul Bind of XII-HI, Kumari Vanshika of V-A and Kumari Samiksha Singh of Prep-B were given “Shri S.K. Sharma Memorial Best All Rounder Award”, Kumari Mamta of IT Centre-Special Wing was awarded “Vijay Mehra Best Sportsman of the Year Award”. “Wishes & Blessing 3 C’s (Caring, Compassionate & Considerate) Award & Trophy” along with a cash award of Rs.5,000/- was given to Kumari Sangeeta of class-X. “Second Pandit Shri Narayan Mishra Ji Memorial Scholarship Award & Trophy” along with a cash award of Rs.12,000/- was given to Master Saurabh, a special need child of class-X SN who topped class-X in 2014-2015. Master Shiv Rai and Master Yash Gupta of the Second Shift were awarded “Naveen Hoshiyar Memoral Best All Rounder Award”. The ‘Best House Trophy’ for the academic session 2015-2016 was given to SHIVAJI HOUSE. For the Second Shift the Best House Award was also given to SHIVAJI HOUSE. Shri Manish Sisodia, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister appreciated the conscientious efforts of the dedicated staff and Management Committee in the field of Inclusive Education wherein the teachers educate and train the special need children along with their normal peers. He felt thrilled and honoured to meet the family members of great martyr Lala Lajpat Rai. He addressed the students and urged them to cultivate the values and culture advocated by Lala Lajpat Rai. We all should be loyal to our country and become patriots like him. He also admired the paintings made by Mrs. Pratibha Sharma, Art Teacher of the School on the theme ‘Pollution Free Delhi through Even Odd Scheme’ given to him on this occasion. Gp.Capt. S.C. Bahri, Director-cum-Manager extended the vote of thanks to all the distinguished guests, philanthropists,donors, well wishers and parents for their whole hearted support and contribution for this School. He specially extended his sincere thanks to Arpana France, Inner Wheel Club of Delhi Mid Town, Lions Club for their valuable assistance. He shared with all that the Servants of the People Society is going to establish the replica of this school i.e. Integrated Senior Secondary School, Vocational Training Centre, Boarding House and Rural Charitable Medical Centre at Rahaka Village, Sohana-Tehsil,Gurgaon. The Chief Guest and parents witnessed an Exhibition wherein the students displayed their creative skills through art & craft materials. Products made by special need children were appreciated by all. All the guests were served lunch on auspicious occasion of Birth Anniversary of Lala Lajpat Rai.

ANNUAL DAY
Our School celebrated the Annual Day on 27th January, 2016 (Wednesday) in the Savitri Devi Auditorium of the School. Shri Raj Kumar ji, Chairman-SOPS(Delhi Branch) and Social Worker was the Chief Guest for the occasion. The ceremony commenced with fanfare, lighting of the lamp and floral tributes to the founder of Servants of the People Society – Lala Lajpat Rai. Gp.Capt. S.C.Bahri (Retd.), Director-cum-Manmager of the School welcomed the guests and all the parents. The Integrated Cultural Programme with an amalgamation of song, music and dance items showcased creative skills with innovative performances of students. Smt. Vandana Baberwal presented the Annual School Activiity Report. Smt. Kanta Chopra gave away the prizes to the meritorious students. She also appreciated the commendable job done by the teachers. He appreciated the efforts of the Principal, staff and students. Shri A.K. Tripathi, Principal proposed the vote of thanks.

CBSE LIFE SKILL WORKSHOP
On 22nd January,2016, the CBSE organized a workshop on ‘Life Skills’ at CBSE Centre of Excellence, Gurgaon. It was attended by Mrs. Sangeeta Chawla, TGT (S.St.) and Mrs. Seema Verma, TGT (Sceince). It was a very informative and enriching experience for them.

ATHLETICS STATE GAMES
From 19th to 21st January,2016 the Athletics State Games were organized by Special Olympics Bharat Delhi at Thyagraj Stadium, New Delhi. Thirty eight students of our special wing participated in these games and won 13 gold, 17 silver and 5 bronze medals in different events.

FLOORBALL SELECTION CAMP
On 19th & 20th January,2016 the Floorball Training-cum-Selection Camp was organized by Special Olympic Bharat Delhi at Amar Jyoti Special School, Karkardooma, Delhi. We are happy to share that our special need student Master Aman of class – VII SN has been selected for the National Team.

FUN MELA IN AID OF HANDICAPPED CHILDREN
Servants of the People Society (Delhi) organized “Fun Mela” in aid of handicapped children at Balvantray Mehta Vidya Bhawan Anguridevi Shersingh Memorial Academy on Sunday, the 17th January, 2016. Lioness Mrs. Mamta Mishra, Co-Ordinator : Child Education-Lions Club inaugurated the Fun Mela. Shri Vasu M, CAO-SOPS(Delhi), Rtn Gobind T. Shahani, Smt. Seema Khaitan-Chairperson, Inner Wheel Club of Delhi Mid Town also graced the occasion. Gp.Capt.(Retd) S C Bahri, Director-cum-Manager welcomed all the dignitaries. He stated that the aim of organizing this Fun mela was to have social interaction with parents of students and raise funds for the welfare of special need children. The sounds of cymbals, drums etc of the fanfare and musical revelry permeated the sunny winter morning. Camaraderie and gaiety marked the celebrations. Games, rides and eatable stalls were packed with students, parents and visitors. Puppet show, and colourful integrated bhangra by the School students were the highlights of the Fun Mela. The Chief Guest applauded the efforts of the Management and all the staff members of school. She also announced a Scholarship of Rs.1,00,000/- for a poor student who gets admission in any Professional College for higher education. An Inter-School On-The-Spot-Drawing & Painting Competition sponsored by Luxor Pen Company and Boogie Woogie Dance Competition were also conducted during the Fun Mela. In the evening, the draw for the raffle of attractive items took place. Mrs. M. Kalsi, Director-Cambridge Schools graced the Raffle Draw. Master Ashwim Joshi a student of class – PG H of the Second Shift won the first prize of 165 L Videocon Refregirator. The Principal of the School proposed a vote of thanks. The Mela was a grand success. The proceeds will be utilized to enhance the training facilities for the disabled children of the School.

NATIONAL GAMES OF THE DEAF
From 4th to 7th January,2016, National Games for the Deaf were organized by the All India Sports Council of the Deaf at Hyderbad, Telengana. Kumari Neha Pandey,a hearing impaired student of class-XII participated in different athletics events and won two silver and one bronze medal at national level.

GANIT (Growing Aptitude in Numerical Innovations & Training) WEEK in the schools
Srinivasa Ramanujan was a famous Indian mathematician. To commemorate his 128th birth anniversary various activities were conducted in our school from 16th to 22nd December 2015.
1. On 16th December , we conducted a mathematics Relay Race for primary students . It was a great success.
2. On 17th December , class VI to VIII students performed class room activity by creating magic squares and solving mathematical puzzles. It helped them to develop their analytical skills.
3. On 18th December , the school conducted an interactive session on the topics Pascal’ s triangle and vedic mathematics for senior secondary students. It was a great success.
4. On 19th December , a quiz competition was conducted for both primary and secondary wing students . The students enthusiastically participated in the quiz. It was a very enriching experience for the students.
5. On 21th December , Sudoku given for classes VI to XII. Students took great interest.
6. On 22nd December we conducted an exhibition of all projects and activities taken up during the week. Students have made wonderful projects.
This week was very interesting and also the students and Maths faculty paid a tribute to the great Mathematician Sh. Srinivasa Ramanujan. The spirit behind the GANIT was to make the study of Mathematics more interesting and reduce the fear of learning the subject.

UN ANTI CORRUPTION DAY
Our school in association with Transparency International India organized various events to mark the celebration of UN Anti Corruption Day on 9 December 2015. Gp Capt S.C. Bahri welcomed the chief guest Commodore P.S. Bawa, Chairman, Transparency International India and the judges Dr Geetanjali Chopra, Dr S. K. Malhotra and Dr Ajay Kumar Arora, Principal- Desbandhu Gupta college, New Delhi. The school organized a debate on the topic ‘E- governance Shall Fulfill the Dream of a Transparent and Accountable Administrative System in India.’ The level of participation was intense. Students from leading schools put forward their arguments on the potential of E-governance to mitigate corruption and enhance transparency.

Kajal Dhiman and Gargi Vasishtha of Sri Sathya Sai School won the first and the second prize respectively in the debate. Tanvi Ahuja of Dev Samaj Modern School won the third prize in the same competition. The best team trophy was won by the team Kajal Dhiman and Gargi Vasishtha of Sri Sathya Sai School. On this occasion the best three entries for Slogan Writing and Essay Writing were also invited from schools. In the Slogan Writing, the first position was won by Avantika Singh of Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar and in the Essay Writing competition, Tanvi Ahuja of Dev Samaj Modern school won the first prize. Shubham Bhardwaj of St George’s school won the first prize in ‘On the Spot Painting Competition’. An important feature of the programme was the Anti Corruption Pledge administered to break the Corruption Chain. MELANGE- THE ANNUAL ENGLISH FEST
The English Department of the school celebrated the literary fest- Melange on 03 December 2015 in the Savitri Devi auditorium. The occasion provided a platform to the students of class VI- XI to showcase their talents for storytelling, recitation, dance and dramatization. Well known poems of Robert Frost, William Blake and William Wordsworth were recited by the students in the Inter- House Recitation contest. Interesting stories of Tenali Rama and tales from Panchtantra were also narrated with PowerPoint presentations. The audience heard the stories with rapt attention. The programme concluded with a spectacular dance drama based on Christina Rossetti’s poem ‘Goblin Market’. The excellent performance of the students generated a thunderous applause from the audience. The efforts of the students and the teachers were greatly appreciated by one and all.

UN ANTI CORRUPTION DAY
Our school in association with Transparency International India organized various events to mark the celebration of UN Anti Corruption Day on 9 December 2015. Gp Capt S.C. Bahri welcomed the chief guest Commodore P.S. Bawa, Chairman, Transparency International India and the judges Dr Geetanjali Chopra, Dr S. K. Malhotra and Dr Ajay Kumar Arora, Principal- Desbandhu Gupta college, New Delhi. The school organized a debate on the topic ‘E- governance Shall Fulfill the Dream of a Transparent and Accountable Administrative System in India.’ The level of participation was intense. Students from leading schools put forward their arguments on the potential of E-governance to mitigate corruption and enhance transparency. Kajal Dhiman and Gargi Vasishtha of Sri Sathya Sai School won the first and the second prize respectively in the debate. Tanvi Ahuja of Dev Samaj Modern School won the third prize in the same competition. The best team trophy was won by the team Kajal Dhiman and Gargi Vasishtha of Sri Sathya Sai School. On this occasion the best three entries for Slogan Writing and Essay Writing were also invited from schools. IT CARNIVAL
IT Carnival was celebrated in the Sai Hall of the School on 28 November 2015. Students from all the classes of all the wings participated in various activities with a lot of enthusiasm. Students displayed models, presentations prepared on power point and flash and multimedia applications. Students of classes IX and X presented skits based on ‘Cyber Crime, Impact of Internet on Youth and Digital Footprint’ in the auditorium. The programme was inaugurated by Gp.Capt. S.C. Bahri, Director. Shri Arun K Jain, Offg Chairman, Shri A.K. Tripathi, Mrs Geeta Mallick, Co-ordinator (SW) and Mrs Vandana Baberwal, Offg Principal-2nd Shift graced the occasion. Shri Arun K. Jain, Offg Chairman, addressed the students and appreciated their efforts.

ANNUAL SPORTS DAY
The integrated ‘Annual Sports Day’ was celebrated on 23 December 2015 in the school playground. Rtn. Gobind T. Shahani, a well known philanthropist and social worker was the chief guest for the occasion. Gp Capt S.C. Bahri, Director-cum-Manager gave a warm welcome to the chief guest and extended his gratitude for sponsoring this event. The Torch Run was taken and it was followed by the Oath Taking Ceremony by our stunning sports stars represented by Master Shubham Jani of class 11th-C. The students exhibited their sporting spirit by participating in 27 different events. A small integrated cultural programme was also presented by students of both the wings. The Balloon Drill, Karate, Aerobics show and many other shows presented by the young budding sports persons were truly exemplary. Master Shubham Jani and Ms Himanshi Mehra read the Annual Sports Report. The chief guest showered his blessings and appreciated the efforts of the teachers and the students and wished them good luck for their future endeavours.

BHAJAN BELA and PRAYER MEETING
We are sorry to inform that our Chairman Admiral R.H. Tahiliani passed away on 14 October 2015 after a brief ailment in Army R.R. Hospital, Delhi Cantt. The cremation took place with full state honours at Brar Square on October 15, 2015. To pay homage to hon’ble Chairman Admiral Late R.H. Tahiliani-PVSM, AVSM, Former Chief of the Naval Staff & Former Governor of Sikkim, a havan ceremony was performed in the Sai Hall on October 31, 2015. It was followed by a Prayer Meeting in the Savitri Devi Auditorium wherein Teachers presented bhajans. Shri Arun K. Jain, Vice Chairman, Shri Baldev Mahajan-Senior Member, SMC, Smt. Manju Jain, Smt. Meera Tahiliani, Shri Vasu M-Members, SMC and the family members of the Chairman graced the occasion. The programme concluded with floral tributes to the Chairman.

NATIONAL GROUP SONG COMPETITION
Bharat Vikas Parishad organized the Branch Level National Group Song Competition-2015 at DAV School, Yusuf Sarai, New Delhi on 8 October 2015. Ten students from senior wing under the guidance of Mrs. Sonal Rastogi, Music Teacher participated in it and bagged the third position. Our school also qualified for the next round of state level held in November-2015.

DIGITAL INDIA CONTEST
Digital India Contest was organized in the School Computer Lab on 7 July 2015. Seventy students from classes VI to XII participated in this ‘On-line Competition’. Four students of our school, Sudipto Ghosh-X, Amzad Khan-XI, Dipankar Kishore-XI and Naresh Kumar-XI completed the first level with 100% marks and qualified for the second level.

STAMP DESIGN COMPETITION
The Postal Department, Govt. of India organized the ‘Children’s Play 2015 Stamp Design Competition’ in which about 2000 students participated. Ninety two best entries from General Wing and twenty best entries from Special Wing were forwarded to the Postal Department for the next level of competition.

TEACHERS’ DAY CELEBRATION
Teachers’ Day was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm on 5 September 2015. The students of class XI/XII presented a colourful programme in the assembly. Later, a brief cultural programme was presented by the teachers in the Savitri Devi Auditorium. Our Vice Chairman, Sh. Arun K. Jain and Smt. Manju Jain—Member, School Managing Committee, Shri Baldev Mahajan- Member, School Managing Committee and Shri Vasu M.-CAO, SOPS (Delhi) graced the occasion. The Vice Chairman congratulated the teachers on this special day and hosted lunch for the entire staff on this occasion. He also presented a silver coin to each staff member.

SOCIAL STUDIES WEEK
Social Studies Week was celebrated with full enthusiasm and zeal from 22 to 28 August 2015. On this occasion various competitions like Fancy Dress, Painting, Origami, Poster & Banner Making, Group song etc were organized. The Social Science Exhibition on the theme ‘Water Conservation’ was also organized for classes VI to VIII in the Sai Hall. In this exhibition beautiful and informative models/projects were displayed by the students on various subjects like Rain Water Harvesting, Terrace Farming, and Hydroelectric Generation. Students of Senior Wing (XI & XII) organized a Gallery Walk and Street Play on this occasion. Hearing Impaired students from classes I to X exhibited the models on different topics. All the Hearing Impaired students participated with full zest and zeal in all the events. All the programmes were highly appreciated by one and all.

ANNUAL DANCE DRAMA & MUSIC COMPETITION
Nineteenth Niloy Sen Annual Dance- Drama and Music Competition was organized by Very Special Arts India at India International Centre, Lodhi Road on 21 August 2015. Sixteen students of our Special Wing along with three teachers participated in it. Our School won the first prize in this event.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION – 2015
We celebrated the 69th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour on 15 August 2015. The school band warmly welcomed the Chief Guest Shri Baldev Mahajan, Former Commissioner – Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, educationist and one of the Senior Members of the School Managing Committee. Shri Vasu M, CAO-SOPS (Delhi Branch) also graced the occasion. The programme commenced with the hoisting of the flag followed by a beautifully synchronized tricolour hand fan & balloon drill. Taek-won-do and Kung fu performances enthralled one and all. Gp.Capt. S.C. Bahri, Director-cum-Manager, welcomed the Chief Guest in the Savitri Devi Auditorium. The integrated cultural programme was presented by the students of both the wings and both the shifts. The programme beautifully encapsulated the spirit of patriotism. The cultural programme was an amalgam of various foot tapping patriotic songs, dances and speeches boosting nationalist spirit. The English skit by Secondary Wing ‘A Forgotten Martyr’ dedicated to Netaji Subash Chandra Bose’s contribution to the independence of our country was presented. The Second Shift also presented their cultural programme. The students of the Second Shift presented a bilingual skit depicting ‘Achievements Since Independence’. The Chief Guest delivered an inspiring speech urging the youth to make India Corruption Free. Shri A.K. Tripathi, Principal proposed the vote of thanks. The programme concluded with ‘National Anthem’, which echoed all around. Later on, sweets were distributed among students and teachers.

SAI SANDHYA- A Blissful Evening
The Special Wing of our school organized the Annual Sai Sandhya on Thursday, 26 March 2015 at Sai Mandir in the School premises. Our Chairman Admiral R.H. Tahiliani and Mrs. Meera Tahiliani graced the occasion. Shri Vasu M.-CAO, SOPS(Delhi), Mr.R.K. Wadhera, Manager-Balvantray Mehta Vidya Bhawan Sr. Sec. School, Lajpat Bhawan, Mrs. Sunita Bhatia, Headmistress – Primary Wing, Balvantray Mehta Vidya Bhawan Sr. Sec. School, Lajpat Bhawan and Mrs L.Kharbanda, Former Principal, Balvantray Mehta Vidya Bhawan Sr. Sec. School, Lajpat Bhawan were also present. The auspicious programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp. The teaching and non-teaching staff of the school of both shifts presented a beautiful cultural programme including Mantras, Bhajans, etc. There was a large gathering of devotees to seek the blessings of Sai Baba. The Sai Sandhya concluded with ‘Sai Arti’ in a beautiful resonance followed by distribution of Prasad and Preeti Bhoj to all present on this occasion.

150th BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF LALA LAJPAT RAI – YEAR LONG CELEBRATION
Over the course of a year long celebration of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sher-e-Punjab Lala Lajpat Rai, Founder of Servants of The People Society, a power point presentation on the life of Lala Lajpat Rai was shown by Mrs. Gopa Mukherjee, PGT (History) in the Savitri Devi Auditorium on 28 February 2015. It was appreciated by everyone present there.

INTER SCHOOL FLOWER/LEAF JEWELLERY DECORATION CONTEST-2015
Very Special Arts India organized a Flower/Leaf Jewellery Decoration Contest-2015 on 13 February 2015. It was organized to foster creative abilities of children in arts. Km. Bharti Mishra of X-HI and Km. Rupali Jha of X-HI escorted by Art & Craft Teacher-SW participated in this event. It is indeed a matter of pride for our school to mention that they bagged the first prize in this contest.

FOUNDER’S DAY
To commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sher-e-Punjab Lala Lajpat Rai, Founder of Servants of the People Society, we celebrated the 28th Founder’s Day of Balvantray Mehta Vidya Bhawan Anguridevi Shersingh Memorial Academy on 28 January 2015(Wednesday) in the Savitri Devi Auditorium of the school. Air Chief Marshal A.Y. Tipnis, PVSM, AVSM, VM (Retd), Former Chief of the Air Staff was the Chief Guest for the occasion. The ceremony commenced with fanfare, lighting of the lamp and floral tributes to the founder of Servants of the People Society – Lala Lajpat Rai. Admiral R H Tahiliani,PVSM, AVSM(Retd), Former Chief of the Naval Staff & Former Governor of Sikkim, Chairman of the School, Shri Arun K. Jain, Vice Chairman of the School Managing Committee, Family Members of Lala Lajpat Rai, Members of the School Managing Committee, Senior Members of Servants of the People Society, Members of different NGOs graced the occasion. Gp.Capt. S.C. Bahri, Director-cum-Manager welcomed the Chief Guest, philanthropists, parents and other dignitaries. The Integrated Cultural Programme commenced with an Invocation. The programme was an amalgam of song, music and dance items. The students showcased their creative skills with innovative performances. The highlights of the show were the value based plays. The medley presentation of children from both the wings and the Second Shift focused on the mental, physical and spiritual upliftment. Shri A.K.Tripathi, Principal presented the School’s Annual Report highlighting the achievements of the School. The report was appreciated by one and all. Smt. Molina Tipnis gave prizes to meritorious students for their excellent performance in various activities. She also released the School souvenir “Prayas” printed in the School printing press with the help of Disabled Children. Shri Raj Kumar Chopra, Chairman-Servants of the People Society (Delhi) spoke on the life of Lala Lajpat Rai. On this occasion, Master Aditya Mishra, former Special Need Student of our School was given the prestigious “Jasbhagti Special Achievement Award” for the year 2014-2015 along with a cash prize of Rs 5000 for his outstanding achievement despite his disability. Master Nikhil Mishra, a student of class-XII B was given the “Tenth Aditya Sharma Memorial Best All Rounder Award”. “S.K.Sharma Memorial Awards” were presented to Km. Sameeksha of Play Group, Km Managasnja of class- Prep of General Wing, Master Ritik Hukku of class – 12 (SN) and Master Mohd. Tanjeev of class-12 (HI). “Arun Mallick Jewel of the VTC Award” was given to Km. Pooja of Vocational Training Centre. “Naveen Hoshiar Baberwal Memorial Award” was presented to Master Aman Arora of Class-VIII E and Master Samar of Special Wing of the Second Shift. Master Vishal Thapa of class-XII C was awarded “Vijay Mehra Best Sportsman of the Year Award”. “First Wishes & Blessings 3 C’s Award & Trophy” along with a cash award of Rs.5000 was given to master Gaurav of class-X C. “First Pandit Shri Narayan Mishra Ji Memorial Scholarship Award & Trophy” along with a cash prize of Rs 12000 was given to Km. Ayushi of class-XI who topped class-X in 2013-2014. The ‘Best House Trophy’ for the academic session 2014-2015 was given to ASHOKA HOUSE. For the Second Shift the Best House Award was given to CHANAKAYA HOUSE. Air Chief Marshal A.Y. Tipnis appreciated the conscientious efforts of the dedicated Staff and Management Committee in the field of Inclusive Education wherein the teachers educate and train the Special Need Children along with their normal peers. He advised that girls must be empowered and should be given quality education. The Chief Guest and parents also visited the exhibition wherein the students displayed their creative skills through their models, art & craft materials. Products made by Special Need Children were appreciated by all.

The ceremony commenced with fanfare, lighting of the ceremonial lamp and floral tributes to the founder of Servants of the People Society – Lala Lajpat Rai. Gp.Capt. S.C.Bahri (Retd.), Director-cum-Manager of the School welcomed the guests and all the parents. An Integrated Cultural Programme of song, music and dance items that showcased creative skills and innovative performances of students was put up. Shri Raj Kumar Chopra gave the prizes to the meritorious students. He complimented the staff and students for putting up such a remarkable show and praised the efforts made by the staff and management to promote the inner beauty of the children by providing them value based education and advancing the cherished traditions and beliefs of Indian culture. REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION
The Republic Day celebration was held on 26 January 2015 in the school campus. Shri A.K. Tripathi Principal hoisted the tricolour with National Anthem and distributed ‘Ladoos’ on this auspicious occasion. The teachers/staff residing in the vicinity of the school graced the occasion.

FUN MELA IN AID OF HANDICAPPED CHILDREN
Servants of the People Society (Delhi) organized a “Fun Mela” in aid of Handicapped Children at Balvantray Mehta Vidya Bhawan Anguridevi Shersingh Memorial Academy on Sunday, 18 January 2015 from 1100 hrs to 1900 hrs for students, staff and parents of the School. Major General P.S. Bevli, Director Youth Services-Rotary Club of Indraprastha-Okhla inaugurated the Fun Mela. Commodore P.S. Bawa (Retd)-Rotarian, Shri N.C. Kaushik, Former Deputy Director of Education (South East)-Govt. of NCT of Delhi, Dr. Ajay Arora, Principal-Deshbandhu College, Shri Vasu M, CEO-SOPS(Delhi) also graced the occasion. Gp.Capt.(Retd) S.C.Bahri, Director-cum-Manager welcomed all the dignitaries. He stated that the aim of organizing the Fun Mela was to have social interaction with parents of students and fund raising for the welfare of Special Need Children. The sounds of cymbals, drums etc of the fanfare and musical revelry permeated the sunny winter morning. Camaraderie and gaiety marked the celebrations. Games, joy-rides and eatable stalls were packed with students, parents and visitors. A Puppet show, integrated Bhangra and colourful dances by the students were the highlights of the event. The Chief Guest applauded the efforts of the Management and all the staff members of the school. He motivated the students to join Armed Forces to serve the nation. He also gave a generous donation of Rs10, 000 for the welfare projects for Differently abled children. An Inter-School On-The-Spot-Drawing & Painting Competition and Boogie Woogie Dance Competition were also organized during the Fun Mela. In the evening, the Draw for the Raffle took place. Shri A.K Tripathi, Principal of the School proposed the vote of thanks. The Mela was a grand success. The proceeds will be utilized to enhance the training facilities for the Disabled Children of the school.
